Conscious Living, Energetic Days – My Personal Recipe for Well-Being

I’m 56, but I don’t feel like it – This is how I keep my body, soul, and mind young through conscious living

Sometimes I even surprise myself when I say it out loud: I’m 56 years old. Because I don’t feel like it at all – neither physically nor mentally. Of course, I also face minor or sometimes bigger health issues from time to time, but to me, aging doesn’t equal deterioration.

My parents set an example of how to make the most of life. I strive to do the same, every single day. And no matter how hard it is to accept: this is work no one else can do for me. I am the only one who can create the kind of lifestyle I long for.

As I grow older, conscious living has become an increasingly important part of my daily routine. Sometimes I feel a bit envious when I see young people, already in their twenties, confidently moving toward their goals – and I ask myself: why did it take me this long to get here?

But then I realize: happiness is the journey itself – the goals that keep us in motion. It’s never about how big the goal is, but about the fact that there is a goal, and it gives a constant drive to live our lives – not just endure them.

Preserving youth is a life mission for me. And I live my everyday life by these principles:

1. Nutrition – “You are what you eat” – we hear this often, and it’s true!

I’ve never followed trendy diets. I don’t count calories, I don’t fear carbs. I follow my father’s principle: moderation is the key to a healthy life – in everything, including eating. You can eat anything, just not too much. This idea has echoed in my ears since childhood, and I’ve been a dedicated follower ever since.

It’s important to me that my meals contain real nutrients. That’s why I try to use the cleanest, least – or unprocessed – ingredients, and I’m willing to shop in multiple places if needed, all in the name of conscious living.

People often say: “I don’t have time for that.”
I usually reply: Will you have time to go from doctor to doctor once it’s too late?

Prevention can be tiring at times, but it pays off in the long run – it gives us a healthy body and a better quality of life, even in old age.

Today, food supplements are also essential. Many argue that we should get our vitamins from natural food. However, the food we eat today no longer contains the same amount of vitamins and minerals we need, due to the excessive use of additives and preservatives in the food industry. That’s why I take these separately – not out of luxury, but necessity.

I believe that Rousseau’s famous quote from the 18th century, “Back to nature,” is even more meaningful today. I follow this path as well – my goal is to apply as many natural solutions in my life as possible, so I’m a big fan of herbal remedies and teas instead of artificial medicines.

2. Movement – The body was born to move

It doesn’t matter what you do – just move! Without movement, the body slows down, stiffens, and gets sick.

My favorite is outdoor running. It’s not only good for my body, but also for my soul. The closeness of nature, the fresh air, the changing seasons give me a kind of energy nothing else can provide. While running, I marvel at the wonders of nature. Every season reveals the same familiar environment in a different way. The trees, bushes, and flowers greet me like old friends. I admire their beauty, enjoy how my lungs fill with oxygen, my thoughts become clear, I feel myself aligning with the vibrations of nature and becoming recharged.

Lately, I’ve also started going to strength training classes. At this age, maintaining muscle mass is no longer a luxury – it’s a necessity. I don’t want to wait until my body reaches a state where it takes enormous effort to bring it back.

And whenever I can, I cycle or go hiking – these are not just exercises, but experiences.

One thing is important: choose a form of movement you genuinely enjoy! It shouldn’t feel like punishment – it should feel like nourishment. This too is part of conscious living.

3. Soul – Inner work is just as important as physical care

When I was younger, we never even heard of mental health. Today, I know: body and soul are inseparably connected. What’s good for one supports the other – and vice versa.

I believe that if we do work that brings us joy, we can avoid stress and live healthier in the long term. At the same time, our physical state also affects our soul – our zest for life can grow or diminish because of it.

As I learn more and more about the soul, I feel that all the answers lie within. But this takes persistence, courage, and strength. To face ourselves, our past, our traumas – but this is the key to true harmony.

I walk this path too – conscious living to me also means taking care of my emotional state. I try to find harmony, to raise and maintain my vibration – because I don’t just affect myself, but also those around me.

4. Learning – Growth never ends

Learning gives knowledge. Knowledge leads to a better, more enjoyable life. No matter what circumstances we live in – if we stay open and willing to learn, there will always be a way out, a solution, a step forward.

I’m constantly seeking new knowledge – whether it’s about health, the soul, or anything that inspires me. Every new insight brings me closer to a fulfilled life.

For me, creating is also part of conscious living.

As a painter, art is not just self-expression – it’s an energy source and a form of meditation. In every brushstroke, there is harmony and inner strength – the very things I’ve spoken about in this post. Nature, emotions, the connection between body and soul – all these appear in my paintings.

I take responsibility for my health.
